Welcome to Amazima Ministries

Amazima, which means "truth" in Luganda, is the name of Katie's non- profit organization. On page 84 of her book, Katie states their mission statement as Amazima is just taking flight; to help children experience the truth of the bigger, brighter world available to them through education and, more important, the truth of God who created them beautifully in His image, a God who loves and values and wants the best for them.

Throughout the book, Katie is challenged with many things, but she is always able to conquer them. Just when she thinks her life is going to settle down, God interrupts and requests that Katie answer his call, one more time. After Katie officially declares Amazima, life of course is busy, but she is doing the same thing for the kids, everyday. Katie was settling into her routine, when God intervened and placed another issue on her heart. It wasn't enough to change lives of those who were less fortunate, she wanted to change the hearts of those who were fortunate. Katie wanted the world to know the TRUTH about what is happening to thousands of kids everyday, while many are taking for granted their upscale homes and fully stocked cabinets.

And so, Katie expanded her ministry and her home. After only a few short months in Uganda, Katie had adopted four Ugandan children, built an organization around her passion for helping others, and opened her home to hundreds of kids every day. At the end of her first year in Uganda, Katie was feeling pretty blessed, and so were these kids...
